Family Tree
Pyper, Chad Barton 20, passed away on December 30, 2008, at home, cradled in his father's arms, thus ending a 20 year battle with Hunter's Syndrome, a genetic disorder. Chad was born in Phoenix, Arizona, on December 10, 1988, and had just enjoyed his 20 birthday with a large celebration of family and friends. Chad's initial diagnosis in 1990, together with the prospect of a bone marrow transplant resulted in donor drives in Arcadia (Phoenix), Denver and San Francisco and over 5000 new admissions to the Arizona bone marrow registry. As a result of the 5000 new donors, matches for others were found and transplants resulted. Chad was the love of our lives, brought immeasurable joy to his family, the LDS Arcadia Ward, the LDS Foothills Ward, and his classmates and teachers at Desert Vista High School. Chad's ancestors settled Mesa, Arizona in the 1860's, and a statue of his great, great, great grandfather George Sirrine, stands in the forefront of Pioneer Park across from the Mesa LDS Temple. Now that Chad is free of his tired body, he celebrates again in the presence of his Savior as well as his ancestors who preceded him in death including grandparents LeRoy Barton Pyper, Jr., Marilyn Phelps and step-brother Austin K. Hunsaker. Chad is survived by his father, Mark B. Pyper, mother, Sarah Phelps Colone, step-parents, Loren McCarty Pyper and William Colone, sisters Paige E. Pyper and Brooke N. Pyper, step-sisters Kaleigh Hunsaker and Sarah Hunsaker, step-brother Ryan Hunsaker, grandparents Herschel Phelps, Rae Pyper Clawson, William G. Clawson, Robert S. McCarty and Christina S. McCarty.

Dear Loren,
Thank you for letting me know. My prayers are with you and the whole family.
Chad was such a big part of our community. We all watched him grow up and have
seen how much love you and the Pyper family have in your hearts. I think he gave
all of us the strength and courage to face our everyday troubles. What a lucky
little guy to have had the loving family that he had here on Earth and what a
beautiful thought that he is now in Heaven with God and doesn't have to have the
earthly problems he had anymore. I get chills when you say he passed away in
Mark's arms; how perfect.
Again, my love and prayers go out to you all - God Bless,

Mark and Loren,

I am deeply sorry for your loss.  I am happy, though, that he was surrounded by so much love, that he had just enjoyed a wonderful birthday celebration, and that now he is free and at peace.

You are both in my thoughts and heart.

Love,

Maria
